About the band
Late Harvest was founded by Elizabeth Fleig and Travis Ziegler in June of 2013. They quickly realized their mix of catchy lyrics and “in your head” riffs could go beyond living room jam sessions, and in early 2015, Nate Holmes and Aidan Murphy were brought on to fill out the sound with phat bass and funky beats. Ever since, the band has been writing and playing original music fueled by original stories, everyday encounters and inspired riffs. With a mix of rock, pop, soul and a splash of jazzy blues, Late Harvest is looking forward to connecting to audiences ready to dance, think and sing along.
Liz is the singer, lyricist, co-primary songwriter, and founding member of Late Harvest.
Liz grabbed a mic at a family wedding at the age of three, belted out (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, and hasn't looked back since. She writes and sings from the heart, drawing inspiration from both her own experiences as well as stories of friends and family. She is the reason all of the Late Harvest tracks are so relateable. With a voice inspired by the talents of Sarah Mclachlan, Adele and Jewel, she loves getting to channel all three ladies with the wide variety of Lake Harvest music. When people come to see a Late Harvest performance, they come to see Liz(*cue an embarrassed Liz giggle.)
Travis is the guitar player, co-primary songwriter, and founding member of Late Harvest. He is kept busy playing both rhythm and lead.
Travis is a riff-writing juggernaut. Every week the band gets to hear the new melody that he is crafting and turn it into a catchy new tune. Thank Travis for that special je ne sais quoi found in the mood of our songs. We love finding the best of the best in the mountain of riffs Travis produces.
Travis founded and works as the primary DJ and photographer at Sound Mindset LLC to rave reviews (really, Google it!). He passes his passion on to musicians of all ages as a guitar teacher, putting his years of local Madison music projects to good use.
Nate plays bass in Late Harvest.
Some of Nate's earliest memories include his father's bluegrass jams and his mother playing Chopin. Nate has been actively involved in music from a young age, playing euphonium from age 13 though college. Drawn to the low end, Nate picked up the bass shortly after at 15 and studied under Robert Junceau III.
Some of his musical highlights include preforming Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Béla Fleck and the Flecktone's Stomping Grounds, and playing with Late Harvest.
Aidan plays drums in Late Harvest.
Aidan started drumming in 2005. After finishing school in Florida, he moved to Madison in early 2015 for a job. He soon joined up with Late Harvest after answering an ad on Craigslist, and has been helping to shape the bands sound with his funky-fresh stylings.
Aidan's main influences are classic rock, funk, prog, and math rock.
You may also know Aidan from his work with Zubora and Studebaker Hawk.
Tandy (aka Nate 2, aka The other NAte)
Nate plays keys, percussion, and guitar as the newest member of Late Harvest.
A multi-instrumentalist, Nate began his musical journey by taking piano lessons at an early age before trading keys for drumsticks because they were "cooler." A classically trained percussionist, Nate went to college with a music scholarship where he toured Russia, Estonia, and Scandinavia with the Concordia College Concert Band. During that time, he also performed regularly with the Tri-College Percussion Ensemble, the Tri-College Marimba Choir, and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony.
When he's not playing with Late Harvest, Nate enjoys writing and recording solo material and was a finalist in both 2016 and 2017 for the Madison Area Music Association Awards in the Unique Performer of the Year category.
